MLB: St. Louis 4, Philadelphia 1

ST. LOUIS, July 24 (UPI) -- Shelby Miller blanked Philadelphia over six innings Tuesday and St. Louis became the first team to reach 60 wins with a 4-1 decision over the Phillies.

Miller (10-6) scattered three hits, issued one walk and struck out six for the National League Central-leading Cardinals, who improved to an MLB-best 60-37 with their fourth win in five games.

Trevor Rosenthal tossed a scoreless eighth and Edward Mujica racked up his 29th save as St. Louis maintained a 1 1/2-game divisional lead over Pittsburgh.

Allen Craig went 2-for-3 with a pair of RBI while Yadier Molina and David Freese each knocked in a run for the Cards.

Phils starter Jonathan Pettibone (5-4) was saddled with the loss, surrendering three runs on seven hits over five full frames.

Chase Utley went 3-for-4 and John Mayberry got the only RBI for Philadelphia, which dropped a third straight.
