Falla continues surprise run through Colombia Open

BOGOTA, July 19 (UPI) -- Alejandro Falla continued his surprising run through the Colombia Open Friday with a victory over No. 1 seed Janko Tipsarevic.

Falla, who has never won a tournament on the ATP Tour, reached the semifinals with a 6-3, 2-6, 6-3 decision over Tipsarevic. Falla had downed No. 8 seed Xavier Malisse in the opening round and will now take on Vasek Pospisil.

Pospisil earned his semifinal berth by downing Matteo Viola 3-6, 6-3, 6-2.

The other semifinal sill send second-seeded Kevin Anderson against Ivo Karlovic. Anderson disposed of Santiago Giraldo 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 and Karlovic downed Adrian Mannarino 7-6 (7-5), 7-6 (7-3).
