CLEARWATER, Fla., July 16 (UPI) -- Former NFL player Monty Ray Grow was charged with child abuse for leaving a 3-year-old girl in a car while he visited a strip club, police in Florida said.

Grow, 41, of Redington Beach, left the child inside a vehicle while he went inside the Diamond Dolls strip club in Clearwater, Pinellas County deputies said in a report.

The child's grandparents had taken the child, who was uninjured, from the vehicle by the time deputies arrived.

Deputies said Grow ran up to the car as they were investigating the incident.

Grow played for the University of Florida before playing for the Kansas City Chiefs in 1994 and the Jacksonville Jaguars in 1995, the South Florida Sun Sentinel reported.
