Michael Allen stumbles but hangs onto lead at U.S. Senior Open

OMAHA, July 13 (UPI) -- Michael Allen stumbled to a 2-over-par 72 Saturday, but still hung onto a two-stroke lead after three rounds of the U.S. Senior Open Championship.

Allen came into the day with a five-shot advantage, but saw the majority of his lead slip away after his three birdies were more than offset by five bogeys at Omaha Country Club.

Still, he remained atop the leaderboard after the inconsistent round at 8-under-par 202, two better than Kenny Perry and Fred Funk.

Perry used an eagle and six birdies en route to a 64. Funk carded a 67 to end the day tied for second at 6-under 204.

Sole possession of fourth place at minus-4 was claimed by Corey Pavin (64), while Rocco Mediate (72) held fifth one shot further back.
