MLB: Colorado 5, San Diego 4

SAN DIEGO, July 11 (UPI) -- Charlie Blackmon singled in runs in both the sixth and eighth innings Wednesday to help Colorado fight off San Diego 5-4.

The Rockies built a 4-0 lead heading into the bottom of the sixth and then survived a would-be San Diego comeback that featured a two-run homer by Carlos Quentin.

Jorge De La Rosa (9-5) lasted five-plus innings to pick up the victory. He gave up Quentin's homer in the sixth and only one other hit while walking four and striking out four.

Three Colorado relievers held the Padres to a run on three hits during the sixth, seventh and eighth innings and Rafael Betancourt survived a shaky ninth for his 13th save. Betancourt allowed a run and left the potential tying score stranded on second base.

Andrew Cashner (5-5) gave up three runs, two earned, on eight hits in five innings to absorb the loss.
