MLB: Baltimore 3, Texas 1

BALTIMORE, July 11 (UPI) -- Chris Davis and Brian Roberts hit solo home runs early in the game Thursday and Baltimore held on to down Texas 3-1.

The Orioles split the four-game series by capturing the last two contests.

Ross Wolf made the second start of his career in place of Yu Darvish, who was placed on the disabled list by the Rangers because of a strained muscle in his throwing shoulder.

Wolf (1-2) allowed a homer by Davis in the second inning and another by Roberts in the third. It was the 34th homer of the season for Davis, tops in the majors.

Ian Kinsler brought Texas within one with a home run in the sixth, but that was the only score allowed by Miguel Gonzalez (7-3). He gave up four hits and struck out four in 6 2/3 innings.

Nate McLouth's RBI single in the eighth boosted the Baltimore lead and Jim Johnson came on in the ninth to earn his 31st save.
