STUTTGART, Germany, July 8 (UPI) -- No. 8-seeded Martin Klizan had little trouble Monday in picking up a first-round win at the Mercedes Cup tennis tournament in Germany.

Klizan defeated Albert Montanes 6-2, 6-3 without dropping serve. He won more than 70 percent of the points on serve while taking half of the points when Montanes served. Klizan ended up with a pair of breaks in each set.

He moves into the second round against Roberto Bautista Agut, who was a 6-3, 7-6 (7-4) winner in his first-round match.

Also Monday wild-card entrant Michael Berrer came away a 6-4, 3-6, 6-1 winner over Daniel Gimeno-Traver, losing just 11 points in the third set.

Berrer draws No. 3-seeded Jeremy Chardy, who had a first-round bye, in the second round.
