Germany's Kittle wins first stage of Tour de France

BASTIA, Corsica, June 29 (UPI) -- Germany's Marcel Kittle won the first stage of the Tour de France Saturday after race officials were forced to move the finish line due to a stuck bus.

Kittle outran Alexander Kristoff of Norway in the home stretch of the stage in Corsica to claim the coveted yellow jersey.

The times for the stage were not logged by race officials due to the change to the course officials were forced to make when a team bus became stuck under an overhang at the finish of the 123-kilometer (76.42 mile) stage.

Tour officials moved the finish to the 3 kilometer (1.86-mile) mark, but then changed it back to the original location once the bus was freed and moved out of the way.
