2 more arrested in Aaron Hernandez murder case

FALL RIVER, Mass., June 28 (UPI) -- Two men were arrested Friday on charges related to the murder case against former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez, police said.

The Boston Herald reported Ernest Wallace was arrested in Miramar, Fla., on a charge of accessory to murder in the June 17 slaying of Odin Lloyd, and Carlos Ortiz was being held at Attleboro District Court in Fall River on a charge of illegally possessing a gun.

Police said they have recovered a vehicle used in Lloyd's slaying not far from Hernandez's home in North Attleborough, Mass., the newspaper reported.

ABC News reported investigators are focusing on the possibility Lloyd was killed out of concern he had information about a drive-by shooting in Boston in 2012 in which Daniel Jorge Correia de Abreu, 29, and Safiro Teixeira Furtado, 28, both of Dorchester, were killed and a third man was wounded -- hours after Hernandez was involved in an altercation in a nightclub.

Superior Court Judge Renee Dupuis Thursday denied bail for Hernandez, saying if what prosecutors allege is true, Hernandez "in a cold-blooded fashion killed a person because that person disrespected him."

Hernandez entered a not guilty plea Wednesday at his arraignment after prosecutors presented extensive evidence they said showed he "orchestrated" Lloyd's killing and took steps to conceal it.

The New England Patriots released Hernandez following his arrest Wednesday.
