Castro leads after one round of AT&T National

BETHESDA, Md., June 27 (UPI) -- Roberto Castro put together a 5-under-par 66 Thursday that gave him a two-shot advantage after one round of the AT&T National.

Castro's best finish on the PGA Tour has been a tie for seventh at last year's Greenbrier Classic. He got his round going with three straight birdies on the front nine and put himself in position to challenge for his first victory.

Billy Horschel, Bud Cauley and Graham DeLaet all shot a 68 at the Congressional Country Club to share second place while the large group at 69 included Jim Furyk, Russell Henley and Brandt Snedeker.

Masters champion Adam Scott struggled to a 73 and Ken Duke, who at age 44 recorded his first tour victory last week in Connecticut, shot a 71.

Castro is barely inside the Top 100 in the FedEx Cup points standings this year and early in the season missed the cut in six out of eight appearances.

He then made six cuts in a row, although his best finish in that stretch was a tie for 18th at the St. Jude Classic in Memphis.
