MLB: Pittsburgh 6, Los Angeles Angels 1

ANAHEIM, Calif., June 23 (UPI) -- Francisco Liriano hurled 6 2/3 solid innings Saturday and Pittsburgh backed him with three homers in its 6-1 interleague win over the Los Angeles Angels.

Liriano (6-3) allowed seven hits and three walks while striking out six. He lowered his ERA to 2.30 over nine appearances for the Pirates, turning in his fourth quality start in five outings.

Pedro Alvarez and Gaby Sanchez each went 2-for-4 with a solo homer and Andrew McCutchen also provided a bases-empty blast for the Pirates, who won a third consecutive game.

Angels starter Jerome Williams (5-3) was tagged for five runs (four earned) on eight hits over six full frames.

Mike Trout provided the only RBI for Los Angeles.
