COL BB: Mississippi State 4, Oregon State 1

OMAHA, June 21 (UPI) -- Hunter Renfroe's three-run homer in the fifth put Mississippi State in charge Friday and the Bulldogs downed Oregon State 4-1 in the College World Series.

Mississippi State earned a berth in the three-game championship series of college baseball's national tournament, finishing the double-elimination portion of the event without a loss.

The Bulldogs downed Oregon State twice and Indiana once to give themselves a shot at the national crown.

Mississippi State had a 1-0 lead heading into the fifth and the first two batters were retired in that inning. Adam Frazier then reached on a single and Alex Detz had a base hit before Renfroe hit a 3-1 pitch over the wall in left for a 4-0 lead.

Kendall Graveman allowed a run on four hits over 5 2/3 innings to get the win. Jonathan Holder retired the only two men he faced in the ninth to earn the save.

The loss went to Andrew Moore, who surrendered all four Mississippi State runs on nine hits in 4 2/3.
