CROMWELL, Conn., June 21 (UPI) -- Bubba Watson, seeking his first victory since winning the Masters 14 months ago, jumped into the lead Friday midway through the Travelers Championship.
Watson shot a 3-under 67 at the TPC-River Highlands course to finish 36 holes in 10-under 130.
Three-time major champion Padraig Harrington and Patrick Reed shared second place at 132 while Hunter Mahan, Nick O'Hern, Tag Ridings and Tommy Gainey were all at 134 in a tie for fourth.
First-round leader Charley Hoffman, who shot a 61 Thursday, settled for a 73 Friday and was joined in a tie for eighth place by Webb Simpson, Keegan Bradley and Brendon de Jonge.
Two months after winning the Masters in 2012, Watson finished in a tie for second at this tournament. His only Top 10 finish this year came at the season-opening Tournament of Champions.
Watson suffered only one bogey Friday on a course that played considerably more difficult than it did in the opening round.
Newly crowned U.S. Open champion Justin Rose wound up in a tie for 12th at 135.
