COL BB: UCLA 2, North Carolina State 1

OMAHA, June 19 (UPI) -- UCLA remained undefeated in the College World Series by edging North Carolina State 2-1 Tuesday behind a strong start by Nick Vander Tuig.

Vander Tuig (13-4) held the Wolfpack to one run on four hits and struck out six batters over seven innings.

David Berg pitched the final two innings and tied an NCAA record with his 23rd save of the season.

The Bruins took the lead in the fifth inning on Kevin Kramer's RBI single followed by a wild pitch from Grant Sasser that brought Brenton Allen in from third base with the lead run.

Logan Jernigan (1-1) took the loss for North Carolina State.
