Al Kazeem scores in Prince of Wales's at Ascot

ASCOT, England, June 19 (UPI) -- Al Kazeem made it two straight over 2012 Derby winner Camelot with a win in Wednesday's Group 1 Prince of Wales's Stakes at Royal Ascot.

Al Kazeem was just up at the wire to nail pacesetting Mukhadram by a neck, with The Fugue in third and Camelot fourth, beaten by slightly more than 4 lengths.

The winner, a 5-year-old son of Dubawi, scored for the third time in three tries this year after only one race as a 4-year-old. He warmed up with a victory at Sandown on April 27, then stepped up to the Group 1 Gold Cup at the Curragh last month and outfinished Camelot to win by 1 1/2 lengths.

Camelot also won a confidence-builder to start the year before his close call in the Gold Cup.

Red Cadeaux, who finished a closing second to Animal Kingdom in the Dubai World Cup in March, continued his globetrotting slide with a ninth-place finish under Frankie Dettori. Since the World Cup, the 7-year-old gelding has finished third in the Group 1 Tenno Sho (Spring) in Tokyo and eighth in the Group 1 Singapore Airlines International Cup at Kranji before Wednesday's misfire. He won the Group 1 Hong Kong Vase in December.
