Chella Choi out front at LPGA Championship

PITTSFORD, N.Y., June 7 (UPI) -- Chella Choi birdied six of her first 10 holes Friday and fired a 5-under 67 that put her a shot in front after one round of the rain-delayed LPGA Championship.

The second major event on the LPGA Tour this season was postponed for 24 hours when heavy rains wiped out the entire day of play Thursday.

Tournament officials hope to complete the second round on Saturday and then send the players out for a 36-hole marathon on Sunday.

Choi finished second or third on four occasions last year, but is still seeking her first tour victory.

Morgan Pressel and former world No. 1 Jiyai Shin both turned in a 68 Friday to share second place.

Brittany Lincicome was alone in fourth after firing a 69 while Jessica Korda and LPGA Hall of Fame member Se Ri Pak were tied for fifth at 70.

Only 15 players broke par at the rain-soaked Locust Hill Country Club course. Lexi Thompson, Angela Stanford and Laura Davies were among those at 1-under 71.
