MLB: Houston 2, Los Angeles Angels 1

ANAHEIM, Calif., June 4 (UPI) -- Erik Bedard controlled the Angels on one run over seven innings Monday and Houston reeled off a sixth straight win, 2-1 over the Los Angeles Angels.

Bedard (1-2) recorded his first victory in 10 starts for the Astros, allowing five hits. The veteran left-hander issued one walk and struck out two.

Wesley Wright and Josh Fields teamed up for a scoreless eighth and Jose Veras earned his 11th save despite yielding a hit and a walk in the ninth as the Astros swept their four-game series and won a sixth straight overall for the first time since July 2005.

Chris Carter tied the game 1-1 with a solo homer in the fifth and Brandon Barnes' sacrifice fly in the next frame sent home Matt Dominguez with the decisive tally.

The Angels' Joe Blanton (1-9) surrendered two runs on three hits over eight innings.

Mike Trout went 2-for-3 with an RBI for Los Angeles.
