CHICAGO, May 31 (UPI) -- Chicago Bears fullback Evan Rodriguez was charged early Friday with DUI after his second arrest since the end of his rookie season, the team confirmed.

Illinois State Police charged Rodriguez with driving under the influence, speeding and improper lane usage at about 3:30 a.m. in northeastern Illinois.

Rodriguez was arrested in March in Miami Beach, Fla., on charges of resisting an officer without violence and disorderly intoxication, charges that were subsequently dismissed, the Chicago Tribune reported.

"We are aware of the reports regarding Evan Rodriguez," the Bears said in a statement Friday. "We are currently gathering information to learn more about the circumstances surrounding the situation."

Bears General Manager Phil Emery said after the March incident he was "disappointed" and Rodriguez was "re-educated on my expectation of a Chicago Bear on and off the field."

Rodriguez, a fourth-pick out of Temple in the 2012 NFL draft, had transferred to Temple after he was charged with disorderly conduct charge in a 2009 incident in a dormitory at West Virginia.

Rodriguez, 24, played in 12 games during his rookie season with the Bears.
