NHL: San Jose 2, Los Angeles 1

SAN JOSE, Calif., May 22 (UPI) -- Antti Niemi was solid in goal for the San Jose Sharks, who evened their Western Conference semifinals series with Los Angeles with a 2-1 win in Game 4 Tuesday.

Niemi had 22 saves in the win, and Brent Burns and Logan Couture scored for the Sharks.

Mike Richards scored the only goal that got by Niemi. Jonathan Quick recorded 21 saves for the Kings.

Richards scored at 9:46 of the third period to avert the shutout. Burns opened the scoring at 9:06 of the first period and Couture converted on a second-period power play to give San Jose a 2-0 advantage.

Los Angeles won the first two games of the series but the Sharks won the next two.
