CHICAGO, May 14 (UPI) -- Travis Wood dominated Colorado with seven shutout innings and the Chicago Cubs banged out 14 hits Monday in their 9-1 rout of the Rockies.
Wood (4-2) allowed only two hits in the 98-pitch effort, working around three walks while striking out two. The left-hander tied a club record with an eighth straight quality start to begin a season.

Alfonso Soriano went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer while David DeJesus, Starlin Castro and Nate Schierholtz also provided two hits and two RBI each as Chicago took the first of a three-game set.
Colorado starter Juan Nicasio (3-1) was reached for five runs on eight hits over six full frames.
Josh Rutledge socked a solo homer for the Rockies' only run.
