MLB: New York Yankees 4, Kansas City 2

KANSAS CITY, Mo., May 12 (UPI) -- Hiroki Kuroda controlled Kansas City for two runs over 7 2/3 innings Sunday and the New York Yankees completed a three-game sweep of the Royals, 4-2.

Kuroda (5-2) allowed six hits, issued one walk and struck out one in the 98-pitch performance.

David Robertson recorded the final out of the eighth inning and Mariano Rivera picked up his 15th save with a scoreless ninth for New York, which racked up a fifth straight win overall.

Vernon Wells went 3-for-4 with a solo homer and two RBI and Robinson Cano added a two-run shot, pacing the Yankees' offense.

Royals starter Ervin Santana (3-2) was touched for four runs on eight hits over 6 1/3 frames.

Alcides Escobar and Alex Gordon each supplied an RBI for Kansas City.
