MLB: Chicago White Sox 3, Los Angeles Angels 0

CHICAGO, May 12 (UPI) -- Chris Sale flirted with a perfect game Sunday, settling for a one-hitter for the Chicago White Sox in their 3-0 win over the Los Angeles Angels.

Sale (4-2) retired 18 straight batters to start the game before Mike Trout singled with one out in the seventh inning. That was the only base runner the left-hander ended up allowing in the 98-pitch gem.

Sale struck out seven in the dominating performance -- the fifth consecutive start in which he has allowed two or fewer earned runs.

Alexei Ramirez went 3-for-4 with a two-run single and came around to score on an Alex Rios double as the White Sox scored all three of their runs in the seventh.

The Chisox salvaged one win in a three-game series.

The Angels' C.J Wilson (3-2) was saddled with the loss, yielding three runs on six hits over 6 2/3 innings.
