Win solidifies Park's No. 1 spot in women's golf rankings

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla., April 29 (UPI) -- Inbee Park tightened her hold on the No. 1 spot in the women's world golf rankings with a win at the first North Texas LPGA Shootout.

Park won the shootout by one stroke over Carlota Ciganda.

The victory in last week's event was her third championship since late February and fifth LPGA title in the last calendar year.

It pushes her ranking points average to 10.12, just short of a full point ahead of Stacy Lewis (9.13), who is No. 2 in the rankings, and almost two points up on Choi Na-yeon (8.14). Lewis and Choi were in a group tied for seventh in the North Texas event.

Yani Tseng is fourth in the rankings with an average of 7.97. Suzann Pettersen, third in the tournament, is fifth at 7.84 and Ryu So-yeon (6.86), who tied for fourth, is sixth.

Jiyai Shin's average of 6.30 is seventh while Feng Shanshan (6.22), also tied for seventh in the tournament, is eighth. Ai Miyazato (5.98) comes in ninth and Karrie Webb is 10th at 4.88.

Ciganda improves her ranking 20 places to No. 28.
