MLB: Chicago Cubs 4, Cincinnati 2 (10 innings)

CINCINNATI, April 24 (UPI) -- Darwin Barney smacked a go-ahead solo homer in the 10th inning Tuesday, powering the Chicago Cubs over Cincinnati 4-2.

Barney's blast -- his first of the year -- came after the Reds had forced extra innings on Joey Votto's RBI single in bottom of the ninth against Carlos Marmol (2-1).

Chicago's Dave Sappelt added an insurance run with an RBI single.

Kevin Gregg earned his first save of the season in the bottom of the 10th despite allowing a pair of runners, fanning Votto to end the game.

Cincinnati's Manny Parra (0-1) absorbed the loss after yielding Barney's clout.
