Indiana's Paul George voted NBA's Most Improved

NEW YORK, April 23 (UPI) -- Indiana Pacers swingman Paul George was voted the NBA's Most Improved Player for this past season, the league said Tuesday.

George received 52 first-place votes and had 311 points in finishing ahead of New Orleans guard and Greivis Vasquez (146 points) and Milwaukee center Larry Sanders (141) in the voting.

The award is determined by a vote of writers and broadcasters who cover the NBA.

George, in his third year in the NBA, averaged 17.4 points over 79 games as the Pacers won the Central Division title. He also had career bests in rebounds (7.6 per game), assists (4.1) and steals (1.8).

He averaged 12.1 points and 5.6 rebounds a game last season.

George is the fourth Indiana player to be voted Most Improved. Jalen Rose won in 2000, Jermaine O'Neal took the honor in 2002 and Danny Granger was first in the 2009 voting.
