LONG BEACH, Calif., April 21 (UPI) -- Takuma Sato won the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach Sunday, becoming the first Japanese-born driver to win an IndyCar Series race.
Sato led for 50 of the 80 laps on the California street circuit, fending off Graham Rahal down the stretch in his 52nd start for A.J. Foyt Racing.
It was Foyt's first win since Kansas Speedway in 2002.
Rahal ended up in second place, followed by Justin Wilson.
Pole-sitter Dario Franchitti and J.R. Hildebrand completed the Top 5.
