TV's Al Michaels busted for drunken driving in LA area

SANTA MONICA, Calif., April 21 (UPI) -- NBC sportscaster Al Michaels was free Sunday after spending a few hours in a Los Angeles-area jail following his arrest for drunken driving, police said.

The veteran television announcer, who currently handles play-by-play on "Sunday Night Football," spent five hours in the Santa Monica City Jail this weekend before being released on his own recognizance Saturday morning.

Michaels was ordered to appear in Los Angeles County Municipal Court on June 26 to face the misdemeanor charge, said CNN.

No details of the alleged incident were available, but a police sergeant told CNN Michaels was cooperative.
