MLB: New York Yankees 9, Toronto 4

TORONTO, April 19 (UPI) -- Travis Hafner hit one of New York's three solo homers and had two RBI Friday in helping the Yankees roll over Toronto 9-4.

New York came up with 13 hits, including home runs from Hafner in the third, Lyle Overbay during a three-run sixth and Vernon Wells in the seventh.

Hafner also drove in a run with a double in the first inning. A three-run sixth gave New York an 8-1 cushion.

Andy Pettitte (3-0) survived 7 1/3 innings for the victory, surrendering three runs on six hits with a lone walk and five strikeouts.

The loss went to Brandon Morrow (0-2), who gave up seven runs on nine hits in 5 1/3. Jose Bautista hit a two-run homer for the Blue Jays and J.P. Arencibia had a solo shot.
