MLB: Minnesota 8, Los Angeles Angels 2

MINNEAPOLIS, April 16 (UPI) -- Joe Mauer did it all for Minnesota Monday, going 4-for-5 with a solo homer and three RBI in powering the Twins over the Los Angeles Angels 8-2.

Mauer also scored twice while Trevor Plouffe added a bases-empty shot among his two hits as Minnesota broke a five-game losing streak.

Pedro Florimon knocked in two runs for the Twins.

Kevin Correia (1-1) recorded the win with seven solid innings, holding the Angels to two runs on eight hits while striking out five and walking one.

Los Angeles starter Joe Blanton (0-3) surrendered four runs on nine hits over 4 2/3 frames.

Brendan Harris and Peter Bourjos each went deep as the Angels fell for the first time in three games.
