OAKLAND, Calif., April 13 (UPI) -- Oakland Athletics outfielder Yoenis Cespedes has landed on the 15-day disabled list with a strained muscle in his left hand, the team announced Saturday.

Cespedes injured his hand while sliding awkwardly as he tried to steal second base in the eighth inning of Friday's 4-3, 12-inning victory over Detroit.

The 27-year-old stayed in the game until the 11th inning.

A's Manager Bob Melvin said Saturday X-rays on the outfielder's hand revealed no broken bones.

Cespedes is hitting .200 with three home runs and seven RBI in 11 games this season.

Outfielder Michael Taylor was recalled from Class AAA Sacramento to take Cespedes' roster spot.
