LOS ANGELES, April 12 (UPI) -- Jeff Carter, Dustin Brown and Anze Kopitar gave Los Angeles a perfect shootout performance Thursday and brought the Kings a 3-2 win over Colorado.
Los Angeles stayed a point in front of San Jose in the fight for fourth place in the Western Conference and the home-ice advantage that goes with it in the opening playoff round.
The Kings scored in all three rounds of the shootout against Jean-Sebastien Giguere, who had come on to replace the injured Sami Aittokallio in the Colorado goal.
Carter and Mike Richards gave Los Angeles a 2-0 lead after one period, but Colorado rallied to tie it on goals from Paul Stastny in the second stanza and Patrick Bordeleau early in the third.
Jonathan Quick stopped 26-of-28 shots and then turned aside 1-of-2 in the shootout -- enough to snap the Kings' two-game losing streak.
