NHL: New York Islanders 2, Boston 1

BOSTON, April 11 (UPI) -- Josh Bailey scored twice Thursday in helping carry the New York Islanders to their third straight victory, 2-1 over Boston.

The Islanders have won eight out of 10 to move into the No. 6 spot in the Eastern Conference standings. They are in good shape to earn their first post-season berth in six years. Boston has lost back-to-back games and missed out on a chance to clinch a spot in the playoffs.

Evgeni Nabokov made 30 saves to get the win, allowing only a goal to Tyler Seguin on the power play early in the second period.

Seguin's goal brought about a 1-1 tie, but Bailey put the Islanders in front for good on a slap shot with 6:48 to go in the middle period. His first goal came with 21 seconds remaining in the opening stanza.

Tuukka Rask took the loss while stopping 34 shots. Boston played without two of their chief offensive threats with Brad Marchand and Patrice Bergeron both suffering from a concussion.
