MLB: Kansas City 7, Minnesota 4

KANSAS CITY, Mo., April 10 (UPI) -- Billy Butler's RBI double in the first inning triggered a five-run outburst Tuesday that carried the Kansas City Royals over Minnesota 7-4.

Mike Moustakas, Salvador Perez, Eric Hosmer and Lorenzo Cain each added an RBI in the big frame, during which the Royals sent nine men to the plate against Twins starter Mike Pelfrey (1-1).

Alcides Escobar went 3-for-4 with a run-scoring single for Kansas City, which clinched its three-game, home-opening series against Minnesota.

Jeremy Guthrie (2-0) earned the victory despite surrendering four runs on six hits over 6 2/3 innings, walking one and striking out two.

Tim Collins tossed a scoreless eighth and Greg Holland collected his second save as the Royals improved to 5-3 for the season.

Pelfrey lasted only two innings, yielding six runs on eight hits in absorbing the loss.

Eduardo Escobar went 3-for-4 with a solo homer and two RBI while Joe Mauer and Josh Willingham also went deep in the loss.
