NHL: Pittsburgh 5, Carolina 3

RALEIGH, N.C., April 9 (UPI) -- Evgeni Malkin and Beau Bennett each scored during a 13-second span Tuesday and Pittsburgh clinched the Atlantic Division with a 5-3 comeback win over Carolina.

Trailing 3-2 in the third period, Bennett got the equalizer 9:49 into the frame and Malkin quickly followed with another marker off a Hurricanes turnover, boosting the Pens to the division title.

Pascal Dupuis added an empty-netter and two assists while Brenden Morrow and Robert Bortuzzo each tallied for Pittsburgh, which holds the second seed in the Eastern Conference.

Marc-Andre Fleury turned aside 25 shots in the victory.

Riley Nash, Joe Corvo and Bobby Sanguinetti scored for Carolina, which fell to a club-record eighth consecutive home loss.

Justin Peters made 28 saves for the Hurricanes.
