Kanepi marks return with Katowice win

KATOWICE, Poland, April 9 (UPI) -- Sixth-seeded Kaia Kanepi of Estonia marked her return from an injury with a dominating first-round victory Tuesday at the inaugural Katowice Open.

Kanepi, who missed time while recovering from an Achilles injury, looked smooth in her 6-1, 6-1 rout of Polish wild card Sandra Zaniewska indoors at Spodek Arena.
