GREENSBURG, Pa., April 7 (UPI) -- Seton Hill University announced it canceled the remainder of the women's lacrosse season due to the bus crash that killed the team's head coach in Pennsylvania.
Chris Snyder, executive director for athletic programs, said team members were involved in the decision to cut short the season after the March 16 crash that killed coach Kristina Quigley, her unborn child and the bus driver, and injured at least a dozen students.
The most seriously injured student, freshman Amanda Michalski, 18, of Coon Rapids, Mich., was released March 25 from Penn State Hershey Medical Center.
The school issued a statement Friday saying it canceled the season "because of great care and concern for the physical health and emotional well-being of our students."
The team has not played since the March 16 accident and end the season with a 3-1 record, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reported Sunday.
Seton Hill spokeswoman Jennifer Reeger said the school is working with some of the lacrosse players who are on a scholarship to ensure they have no lapse in financial aid due to the canceled season.
