NBA: Utah 95, New Orleans 83

SALT LAKE CITY, April 6 (UPI) -- Gordon Hayward gave Utah's playoff push a boost by scoring 23 points Friday and leading Utah to a 95-83 decision over New Orleans.

It was Utah's sixth win in seven games. The Jazz began the night a half game behind the Los Angeles Lakers in the battle for the final post-season berth in the Western Conference.

Utah built a 12-point lead early in the fourth period by scoring the first five points of the quarter.

Paul Millsap added 20 points and 10 rebounds for the Jazz and Al Jefferson finished with 14.

New Orleans, which lost its eighth straight road game, was paced by Anthony Davis with 24 points.

The Hornets have won just twice in their last 13 trips to Salt Lake City.
