Dan Straily (1-0) benefited from his teammates' 10-hit attack to get the win, allowing two runs on five hits in 6 2/3 innings.

Brad Peacock (0-1) was on the mound during Oakland's fifth-inning onslaught, although only two of the runs he allowed were earned.

Houston batters struck out 13 times, running the Astros' total for four games to an astonishing 57. They had suffered 44 strikeouts in a three-game series with Texas to start the season.
