NBA: Philadelphia 101, Atlanta 90

ATLANTA, April 5 (UPI) -- Evan Turner led Philadelphia to a mammoth first quarter Friday and the 76ers went on to down Atlanta 101-90.

The 76ers produced 40 points in the opening period and took an 18-point cushion into the fourth quarter.

Turner scored 24 points and grabbed 11 rebounds while Spencer Hawes added 19 points and 12 boards. The 76ers kept their slim playoff hopes alive, facing a five-game deficit to Milwaukee for the eighth and final post-season spot in the Eastern Conference.

Josh Smith was one five Atlanta players in double figures with 19 points.
