NHL: Edmonton 8, Calgary 2

CALGARY, Alberta, April 4 (UPI) -- Nail Yakupov and Jordan Eberle had two goals each Wednesday to bring Edmonton its fifth consecutive victory -- an 8-2 blasting of Calgary.

Edmonton inched in front of both St. Louis and Nashville with 39 points into the eighth and final playoff position in the Western Conference.

Matt Stajan scored twice in the first 5:18 for Calgary and Edmonton then produced eight straight goals, all of them coming against Joey MacDonald.

Sam Gagner and Ryan Whitney tallied in the opening period to get the score tied and Yakupov started a three-goal surge in the middle period with a power-play goal.

Eberle produced both of his goals in the third period and Yakupov finished the scoring with 1:03 to play.

Devan Dubnyk profited from the offensive outburst and picked up the win by making 17 saves. The eight Edmonton goals were created during 39 shots.
