NBA: Los Angeles Lakers 101, Dallas 81

LOS ANGELES, April 3 (UPI) -- Kobe Bryant notched a triple-double while leading the Los Angeles Lakers to a 101-81 thrashing of the visiting Dallas Mavericks.

Bryant scored 23 points and added 11 assists and an equal number of rebounds in the triumph, which tied the Lakers with Utah in the ongoing battle for the final Western Conference playoff slot.

Bryant hit 8-of-18 shots and did not convert on three tries from 3-point range. He was 7-of-8 from the foul line and also chipped in four steals and two blocked shots in 47 minutes on the court.

It was double-double night at Staples Center. Dwight Howard finished with a double-double of 24 points and 12 rebounds. Earl Clark had 17 points and 12 rebounds. Pau Gasol's stats sheet included 14 points and 10 boards.

Dallas was led by Chris Kaman, who scored 14 points. O.J. Mayo scored 12 points.
