Joe Pavelski also scored and Niemi finished with 27 saves for the Sharks, which moved into the sixth seed in the Western Conference with their fifth win in six games overall.
Boyd Gordon and Radim Vrbata scored for Phoenix, which remained three points out of a post-season slot in the West.
