DENVER, March 30 (UPI) -- Tyson Barrie batted home a rebound just 50 seconds into overtime Saturday, lifting the Colorado Avalanche to their first win in five games, 1-0 over Nashville.
On the play, P.A. Parenteau brought the puck into the zone and made a play back to the blue line to Greg Zanon, who launched a shot at Predators goalie Pekka Rinne.
Rinne made the initial save but couldn't control the ensuing rebound, allowing Barrie to beat him with a shot between the pads.
Semyon Varlamov finished with a 34-save shutout -- his third of the season and 11th of his career -- and Czech blueliner Jan Hejda led a strong defense for the Avalanche, who broke a four-game skid.
Rinne ended with 23 saves for Nashville, which remained two points out of a Western Conference playoff spot with a second straight loss.
