Bears sign ex-Jets guard Matt Slauson

CHICAGO, March 30 (UPI) -- The Chicago Bears have signed offensive lineman Matt Slauson to a one-year contract this week, the team said.

Slauson, who jumped from the New York Jets, was expected to fill in the vacancy at guard left by Lance Louis' departure for Miami, the Chicago Tribune said Saturday.

Slauson's signing came after the Bears nabbed free-agent left tackle Jermon Bushrod earlier in the off-season.

Slauson started 48 of his last 51 games with the Jets.
