NHL: Phoenix 7, Nashville 4

NASHVILLE, March 28 (UPI) -- Radim Vrbata scored twice during a zany first period Thursday and Phoenix went on to snap a seven-game losing streak with a 7-4 win over Nashville.

There were nine goals scored in the opening period with Phoenix accounting for the first five on its way to a 6-3 lead.

Martin Hanzal, Vrbata, David Moss, Matthew Lombardi and Keith Yandle all scored for the Coyotes in the opening 8:26 and Vrbata added another tally with 4:03 to go in the period.

Jason LaBarbera benefited from the onslaught and made 34 saves to get the win.

The first four Phoenix goals were scored against Pekka Rinne before he was removed in favor of Chris Mason, who gave up three goals on nine shots.

Nashville had a three-game winning streak halted.
