NHL: Buffalo 2, Montreal 1

MONTREAL, March 23 (UPI) -- Ryan Miller made 38 saves and Thomas Vanek scored twice Saturday, carrying the Buffalo Sabres to a 2-1 victory over Montreal.

Miller turned aside 15-of-16 of shots in the third period. Vanek scored both his goals in the second period for Buffalo, which won a third straight game while seeking to get into playoff contention in the Eastern Conference.

Michael Ryder scored and Carey Price turned aside 16 shots for Northeast Division-leading Montreal, which fell for just the second time in eight contests.
