NHL: Winnipeg 3, Boston 1

WINNIPEG, Manitoba, March 20 (UPI) -- Ondrej Pavelec turned aside 27-of-28 shots Tuesday and the Winnipeg Jets strengthened their lead in the Southeast Division with a 3-1 win over Boston.

Pavelec stopped all nine shots he faced in the third period as the Jets reeled off three consecutive goals to overcome a 1-0 deficit and improve to 6-1-1 in their last eight games.

Blake Wheeler scored the equalizer on a power play with 8:16 remaining and added an empty-netter while Evander Kane provided the go-ahead tally in between for Winnipeg, which moved two points ahead of second-place Carolina atop the division.

Brad Marchand scored and Tuukka Rask made 22 saves for the Bruins, who fell to 0-2 on a four-game road trip.
