NBA: Philadelphia 101, Portland 100

PHILADELPHIA, March 18 (UPI) -- Philadelphia's Jrue Holiday pumped in 27 points Monday and the 76ers survived a late challenge to escape with a 101-100 victory over Portland.

Holiday fell down as Thaddeus Young tried to find him with an inbounds pass in the closing seconds, giving the Trail Blazers a last chance for the win.

But Spencer Hawes came up with a defensive stop on LaMarcus Aldridge, whose jumper at the buzzer was off the mark.

Holiday added eight rebounds and six assists while Hawes provided 18 points and 13 rebounds for Philadelphia.

The Sixers learned before the game that center Andrew Bynum will miss the rest of season. Team officials said the oft-injured big man -- obtained in a costly trade with the Los Angeles Lakers -- would undergo surgery on both knees.

The Trail Blazers got 32 points and 14 rebounds from Aldridge while tumbling to their 13th loss in 15 road games.
