Elias changed that with a backhander that got through Pavelec's pads, and Johan Hedberg preserved the victory with a stop on the Jets' Andrew Ladd.

Stephen Gionta and Ryan Carter each scored as New Jersey picked up its second win in three contests.

Hedberg finished with 23 saves.

Mark Stuart notched a goal and assist and Evander Kane also scored for Winnipeg.

Pavelec made 25 stops.
