NHL: Carolina 6, New Jersey 3

RALEIGH, N.C., March 9 (UPI) -- Carolina's Jiri Tlusty struck for two goals and added an assist Saturday and the Hurricanes stayed on a roll with a 6-3 rout of New Jersey.

Alexander Semin added a goal and two assists while Jeff Skinner had a goal and an assist as the Southeast Division-leading Hurricanes reeled off their fifth win in six outings.

Chris Terry and Jay Harrison also scored and Dan Ellis turned aside 31 saves to record the win.

Ilya Kovalchuk scored two goals for the struggling Devils, who fell for the seventh time in eight games.

Patrik Elias also scored for New Jersey.

Johan Hedberg was chased from the net after yielding five goals on 18 shots.

Jeff Frazee, making his NHL debut, replaced him in the third period and stopped all three shots he faced.
